Clearline Dermatology was built on camaraderie, team, and family. Back in 2014, Drs. Pierce and Chern met as fellow Army Medical Corps officers training together in dermatology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. Through their three years of dermatology residency training, their families became good friends. After completing dermatology training and being assigned to their respective staff assignments, Drs. Pierce and Chern continued to stay in touch sharing professional tips and techniques for their clinical practice.
As Dr. Pierce's time in the Army was coming to an end, he knew he was interested in building a dermatology practice shaped by evidence-based, quality care delivered through compassionate, accessible service. With this plan set in motion, Dr. Pierce also worked on establishing a team for the dermatology practice. Because Drs. Pierce and Chern stayed in touch since their time training together in residency, he understood she shared the same professional philosophy and complemented his strengths. When an opportunity presented itself to purchase a dermatology practice from a retiring dermatologist on James Island, Dr. Pierce embraced the opportunity. Once Dr. Chern completed her military service several months after Clearline Dermatology opened its doors, she joined and partnered with Dr. Pierce at Clearline. And, the rest is history!
