Dr. Pierce served as Staff Dermatologist for Central Dermatology Center in North Carolina and Womack Army Medical Center prior to founding Clearline Dermatology. Prior to entering private practice, he served as a U.S. Army Officer for over 14 years. Dr. Pierce has special interest in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology.

Casey M. Chern, MD, FAAD

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Chern served as Chief of Dermatology at Guthrie Ambulatory Health Care Clinic in upstate New York prior to starting at Clearline Dermatology. She also was previously a staff Dermatologist and Associate Residency Program Director at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in addition to being appointed to the White House Medical Treatment Team, where she provided executive dermatologic services to White House Staff. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. Dr. Chern has special interest in medical and pediatric dermatology as well as skin of color.

Caroline Buehler, MS, PA-C

Caroline studied graphic design and communication in her undergraduate studies, but shortly thereafter, a personal experience with melanoma redirected her journey into dermatology. In dermatology, she has been able to combine her innate artistic abilities with the medical specialty, which has served as an invaluable skill. After Physician Assistant training, she worked in dermatology in Maryland prior to relocating to Charleston.

Before relocating to Charleston, SC, she worked at Wake Dermatology in NC. Since moving to Charleston, SC, Melissa has continued serving the skin care needs for the neighbors of the Charleston community.

Prudence Blum, LE

Prudence Blum is a licensed aesthetician with over 17 years combined experience in dermatology and cosmetic skin care. Prudence was born and raised in Charleston and completed her aesthetics training at Trident Technical College where she was president of the local chapter of Nova Derma and on the Dean’s list in 2004. She is certified in micro dermabrasion, chemical peels, and light-based therapies. She has comprehensive experience managing skin care programs for a wide variety of patients with a special emphasis on anti-aging and problematic skin. Prudence has a passion for the outdoors and all animals. When she is not working, Prudence enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter fishing, paddle boarding, and exploring the local waterways.

Courtney Magera

Originally from NY, Courtney has been living in SC after relocating to the Low Country after college and absolutely loves it. Since being in the Charleston area, she has had the opportunity to work in different healthcare specialties including ophthalmology and behavioral health. She was most recently the Clinic Director for a Behavioral Health practice in the Low Country. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering in the community.

Angela Walker, Medical Office Assistant

Angela was born and raised in Charleston and grew up on James Island. She graduated from the College of Charleston with a degree in Psychology. Angela has always loved working with people, and this led her to nursing. She graduated from the Roper School of Nursing as a Practical Nurse. While Angela was in nursing school, she fell in love with her husband. They have been fortunate enough to have two beautiful, healthy children together. Angela has worked in Dermatology since 2004. When she is not in the office, she enjoys watching movies and spending time with her family on Folly Beach (with a lot of sunscreen, of course!)

Jennifer Payne, Medical Office Assistant

Jennifer is a Charleston native, who has been in the medical field for over 20 years with 8 of those years in Dermatology. Her previous experience was in Ear, Nose & Throat and Labor & Delivery. The medical field offers a plethora of knowledge daily and that keeps her intrigued. When not taking care of patients, Jennifer is spending time with her husband and two children. She also enjoys volunteering at a local horse rescue.
