Dr. Pierce served as Staff Dermatologist for Central Dermatology Center in North Carolina and Womack Army Medical Center prior to founding Clearline Dermatology. Prior to entering private practice, he served as a U.S. Army Officer for over 14 years. Dr. Pierce has special interest in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology.

Casey M. Chern, MD, FAAD

Chief Medical Officer/Managing Partner

Dr. Chern was the Chief of Dermatology at Guthrie Ambulatory Health Care Clinic in upstate New York before coming to Clearline Dermatology. She also previously served as Associate Residency Program Director at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in addition to being appointed to the White House Medical Treatment Team providing executive dermatologic services to White House Staff. Dr. Chern has special interest in medical and pediatric dermatology as well as skin of color.

Caroline Buehler, MS, PA-C

Caroline studied graphic design and communication in her undergraduate studies, but shortly thereafter, a personal experience with melanoma redirected her journey into dermatology. In dermatology, she has been able to combine her innate artistic abilities with the medical specialty, which has served as an invaluable skill. After Physician Assistant training, she worked in dermatology in Maryland prior to relocating to Charleston.

Melissa Loeffler, MPAS, PA-C

Originally from Daytona Beach, FL, Melissa has extensive experience in medical and cosmetic dermatology since completion of Physician Assistant training. Before relocating to Charleston, SC, she worked at Wake Dermatology in NC. Since moving to Charleston, SC, Melissa has continued serving the skin care needs for the neighbors of the Charleston community.

Chandler Bold

Director of Operations

A native of Charleston, Chandler has served the James Island and Charleston community with over 21 years of clinical and practice management experience. Prior to joining Clearline Dermatology, she was the Director of Operations for Marianne W. Rosen, MD and Associates, LLC. Chandler was active in growing and transforming Dr. Rosen's dermatologic practice for over two decades until Dr. Rosen's retirement. In her free time, Chandler enjoys paddle boarding and spending time with her children.

Angela Walker, Medical Assistant

Angela was born and raised in Charleston and grew up on James Island. She graduated from the College of Charleston with a degree in Psychology. Angela has always loved working with people, and this led her to nursing. She graduated from the Roper School of Nursing as a Practical Nurse. While Angela was in nursing school, she fell in love with her husband. They have been fortunate enough to have two beautiful, healthy children together. Angela has worked in Dermatology since 2004. When she is not in the office, she enjoys watching movies and spending time with her family on Folly Beach (with a lot of sunscreen, of course!)

Jennifer Payne, Medical Assistant

Jennifer is a Charleston native, who has been in the medical field for over 20 years with 8 of those years in Dermatology. Her previous experience was in Ear, Nose & Throat and Labor & Delivery. The medical field offers a plethora of knowledge daily and that keeps her intrigued. When not taking care of patients, Jennifer is spending time with her husband and two children. She also enjoys volunteering at a local horse rescue.

Samantha Mathison, Medical Assistant

Sam has worked in dermatology since 2015 as a receptionist, transcriptionist, and front office manager. She has a strong interest in all roles in the medical office and is now adding medical assistant to her skill set. In her free time, Sam enjoys reading, writing, and exploring Charleston’s abundant nature. She is an animal lover and adores her rescue dog, Nala, and her rescue cat, Beerus.

She loves working with patients and ultimately wants to pursue future studies to become a certified Physician Assistant. Claire was born and raised in Atlanta, GA but has called Charleston her home for over ten years. With a proficient background in social work and recruiting, Claire is excited to put her skills to work as an office assistant. She enjoys helping people and is very passionate about skin health. Claire is currently finishing her master degree in management and leadership at Webster University and is eager to continue gaining experience while serving and leading within her community. In her free time, she enjoys writing, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends.
